Self-Actualization in Seven Steps documents a ritual composed of seven simple gestures repeated in a loop with the performer attempting to maintain perfection, but inevitably slipping into variations within the confines of the movement. As the movement progresses, progressively higher saturation of gels are used until the climax in the seventh position. The grid functions as a document of the durational performance, as well as a how to manual—a guide for replication.
