In spring 2017 I mapped all the countries participating in the 2017 Venice Biennale. This was in preparation for going to the Biennale that summer with Sharon Lockhart, Sichong Xie, Victoria Aravindhan, Hagar Cygler, Jazmin Urrea, Jaklin Romine, Alex Slade and many others. Sharon Lockhart was exhibiting at the Biennale and put together a class called Pavillions, that, in combination with grants and funding, made it possible for us to go to Venice. I made this map to visualize how and where the artists were coming from. It was a way to asses the curator, their choices and the overall vibe of the Bienalle. This was the first time I'd been to an international art fair and quite frankly, I had no idea what to expect.
